A Special Thankyou..........

This week, a new Get Threaded client traveled over 600kms just to come and have her eyebrows shaped. Why? She had read about the amazing benefits of threading on a blog and after investigation of Get Threaded she knew she had to experience this thing called threading.

WOW!......

This made me reflect on all the very special- behind the scene supporters, that Get Threaded has.

And even though I say it to them all the time, I wanted to let it be known publicly how honored and fortunate we are to have every single one of you.

We have Nikki Parkinson from Styling You to thank for this weeks client that traveled so far.

 

Nikki, a major threading convert- made my heart sing with joy last week when at her regular appointment she mentioned to me how every time she posts anything on social media or her blog about threading she knows exactly how to answer the questions and comments that she receives. These being; what is threading, does it hurt and I have had it before and it was really painful. Hearing her state all the answers made me so proud. Not only are we providing a service that people absolutely love, we are educating our clients and they are going out into the world and spreading the Get Threaded word for us. How amazing!

We have many loyal supporters-clients, our artists, business partners and associates as well as friends and family. They all deserve a really big thank-you as they too, are sharing in our journey.

Every time we receive emails and messages about awesome eyebrows, dodgy eyebrows (yes-from you Erin Law...ie royal wedding!) other threading establishments offering unaccredited threading, hygiene standards that you have witnessed, my heart and my love for Get Threaded swells a little more. From all of you, I know what we are trying to achieve for Get Threaded is absolutely worth it, we are not alone and our aim to provide a business that wows through education and delivery of services is a reality.

Without our supporters- there wouldn't be a Get Threaded.

We will -never- forget that.

Why training is so important to Get Threaded!

A few weeks ago I found out I was a top 5 finalist in the Queensland Training Awards for the north coast region for the VET Teacher/ Trainer award.

WOW- super excited! Thank you to all of my students who have given me this incredible opportunity. I am so blessed and really thankful.

Last week I had my interview for the awards with two judges who will determine the winner for the region and the winner will have the chance to move on to compete in the Queensland Training Awards. It gave me a chance to reflect why training is so important and why it is so important for Get Threaded.

I am often asked- why would you write a course, become a registered training organisation and implement such high training standards when there is no licencing or regulation to do so for the hair and beauty industry in Australia?

My answer is simple and is always the same.

Training is the core of our business and I believe without it we will have NO business.

Yes, in Australia we have no licencing or regulation in the beauty industry. The salons you visit may be operated by  people who have little or no formal training. I belive the standard that Get Threaded has will be the norm across the industry in years to come and well it should be. After 22 years in the industry I have only ever been asked to show my certificates once and that was when I became a registered training organisation and trainer. THAT IS THE ONLY TIME! I could have been working in this industry with no formal qualifications and my clients would never have known. That is so scary to me and a disaster waiting to explode. Signs that things are starting to change are there....every few weeks there is a sad story on television of people getting burnt with laser treatments or infections from nail bars. I think in years to come- things will change in our industry.

What can you do?

If you are a client- start asking to see some qualifications and speak up if you think hygiene standards are not what you think they should be. It is your responsibility as well, as you are consenting to treatments.

If you are in the industry- make sure you have accredited qualifications for the services that you deliver. Why not be the best you can be?

We became a registered training organisation so that we could train our artists, franchisees and staff with nationally accredited qualifications for all our core services. For all non-core services- these must be delivered by staff with the appropriate qualifications. We hope to lead in the industry by setting an example.

I believe...like cream-the qualified will always rise to the top!
